9-Me-BC
Cas No.: 2521-07-5
What is 9-Me-BC?
9-Me-BT is a compound that is a β-carboline derivative with the molecular formula C12H10N2. May appear under the names: 9-methyl-BC, 9-methyl-norharman, 9-methyl-β-carboline, 9-methyl-9H-pyrido[3,4-b]indol. It is a compound that exhibits nootropic effects. This means, therefore, that it positively affects neurotransmitter levels and modulates brain function in such a way that it supports cognitive function. In addition, it may exhibit neuroprotective as well as anti-inflammatory effects.
Application of 9-Me-BC
The preparation can be used as a nootropic agent. This means, therefore, that its use is accompanied by improvements in memory, concentration, motivation to act and information processing. This makes it dedicated to people in states of increased mental activity (study, mental work). Similar effects are demonstrated by m. Cerebrolysine or L-Phenylalanine, among others. 9-Me-BC can benefit mental well-being. Therefore, it can find use to alleviate chronic fatigue, lack of energy, depressive states – all due to its effect on the dopaminergic system.
Mechanism of action
The nootropic effect of the product is due to several mechanisms of action. First of all – it effectively increases levels of the neurotransmitter dopamine. This is done by increasing tyrosine hydroxylase activity. It is the enzyme responsible for converting tyrosine to L-dopa, a compound that is a precursor to dopamine.
An important mechanism of action of 9-Me-BC is the inhibition of MAO-A and MAO-B enzymes, thus reducing the accumulation of neurotoxic substances. As a result, the product exhibits neuroprotective effects and slows down brain aging. 9-Me-BC is increasingly being mentioned in the context of assisting in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease.
Dosage of 9-Me-BC
Recommended dosage up to 15 mg per day. The preparation is best taken in the morning or by noon.
